On October 7th, Major General (Res.) Noam Tibon raced south from his Tel Aviv home to save his son and his young family, who had barricaded themselves in their safe room in Kibbutz Nahal Oz with Hamas terrorists on the other side of their door. He managed to eliminate terrorists in several southern communities on the way and saved countless lives in the process. When Gen. Tibon finally arrived at Nahal Oz, he joined the kibbutz’s defense team and went house to house to check for terrorists, informing those who were locked in their shelters that the IDF had arrived. Ten hours after they had entered the safe room, Gen. Tibon’s family finally heard his voice — at which point his 3.5 granddaughter broke her silence to announce “Grandpa has arrived.”
In American Society of the University of Haifa’s latest webinar, Gen. Tibon, former IDF commander of the Northern Formation, where he was responsible for securing Israel’s northern border with Lebanon joins Dubi Weissglas, Chair of the Executive Committee of the University and former Director-General of the Prime Minister’s Office under Ariel Sharon. The webinar goes behind the scenes of Gen. Tibon’s heroism on Oct. 7th and features his insider’s perspective on the ongoing war in Gaza, the escalating conflict with Hezbollah and the Iranian threat.
