PROFESSOR EMERITUS AVI SAGI-SCHWARTZ is a Professor of Psychology and Child Development, Academic Head of the International MA Program in Child Development, Founder and Director emeritus of the Center for the Study of Child Development, Past Dean of Graduate Studies and Past Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at University of Haifa. Dr. Sagi-Schwartz’s primary research interests focus on socio-emotional development across the lifespan and diversified socio-cultural contexts. Dr. Sagi-Schwartz is invested in translating developmental science knowledge into social, public, and foreign policy and developed “impact for good,” which encourages graduates in Child Development to go beyond disciplinary and international boundaries to enhance the wellbeing of children worldwide.
JANE WEST, LPC, ECSE is a mental health professional, educator, accomplished journalist, and Emmy-award winning producer specializing in early childhood issues. She runs Heart of the West Counseling, LLC, a company that provides therapeutic services to families and consulting services to early childhood programs and foundations, and also launched the Two Lilies Fund to support the development of early childhood mental health systems and workforce capacity in under-resourced areas of the world. The International MA in Child Development was the first to receive a grant from the Two Lilies Fund and has continued to receive funds for the last 7 years.
SAHILU BAYE is a Child Development Specialist with an MA in Child Development from University of Haifa. As Founder and General Manager of Enrichment Center for Ethiopia (ECE), he has helped children with physical, psychosocial and socio-emotional development and health issues since 2003. His vision is to see healthy growth and development of children in Ethiopia, and he has contributed to child protection, family preservation intervention, poverty reduction activities, and trainings for child caregivers.
NANA ESI GAISIE is a graduate of University of Haifa’s International Child Development program and a pediatric staff physician at Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Western Ghana. Dr. Gaisie’s aspiration is to promote the best interest of every child, especially those with special needs, in their survival, development, protection and participation.
ALLAN ROUSSELIN graduated from University of Haifa with an International Master of Arts in Child Development in 2020 and is currently the Social Work Director of Benemérito Comité Pro-Ciegos y Sordos de Guatemala, the biggest service-provider non-for-profit organization for persons with visual or hearing disabilities in Guatemala. He has contributed in public and private organizations implementing interventions focused on children and public health, community development in rural areas, promotion of UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, and protective factors for teenagers at risk of gang violence.
